2002-2014: VP of Technology for Mayzo, Inc.

At Mayzo, I was in charge of all technical issues dealing with the use of additives and stabilizers in polymers, adhesives, and coatings. These products included thermal and processing stabilizers, UV stabilizers (HALS and UV absorbers), optical brighteners, and polyolefin modifiers such as crystal nucleating agents and masterbatches. I also created the Beta Nucleation Masterbatch Business at Mayzo, and I  have many published papers and patents on Beta Nucleation Technology.The proprietary Beta Nucleants Masterbatches that I developed are used today in the manufacture of breathable PP films, rigid thermoformed food packaging, geotextiles, battery separator membranes, and for improving the impact strength of molded PP parts. 

1975 – 2002: Senior Research Associate in Product Development for BP Amoco

I was responsible for developing new grades of polypropylene for use in automotive, film, and rigid packaging applications. I also spearheaded projects on wood filled composites, nanocomposite reinforced PP, and foamable PP. In addition to receiving 13 US patents, and several International patents, I developed a new business involving the production of microporous films using beta nucleation.

2014 - Present: Jacoby Polymer Consulting

I currently consult with a large Polypropylene resin producer, masterbatch and additive suppliers, and companies that produce polypropylene-based end-use products. I help these clients with Product Development and problem solving.  I  also offers training courses so that companies can improve their in-house expertise.
